Assets and Liabilities in Relation to the people in your life.
There comes a time when you need to evaluate the people around you. Do they add value to your life, or are they liabilities? If they drain your energy and diminish your value, it's essential to step back, release any obligations, and assess the true worth of the people in your life and how they contribute to you. I categorize people as either assets or liabilities. Do they improve my life or make it worse when they are present?
When evaluating the assets and liabilities of the people in your life, you determine how much access they should have to you. I consider myself very inaccessible, so when I grant someone access, it's valuable. I believe some people have been given unlimited access due to obligations. We often lack the courage to limit or deny this access, even when necessary for our well-being. Protecting your peace involves understanding the value people bring to your life and recognizing when it's time to restrict or entirely revoke access. This requires courage and heart, but it's crucial for personal growth. While the saying goes, "Birds of a feather flock together," I don't entirely agree. As a leader, I understand that access should be granted selectively based on merit.
The people who uplift you, enhance your well-being, bring positivity, shift your mindset, and support you when you're down are invaluable assets. Keep these assets close and eliminate liabilities, as those who drain your energy will shift your perspective to one of scarcity and create friction, making it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Take time to evaluate the traits of liabilities; you may choose to love them from a distance, but as the saying goes, you must handle them carefully. It takes courage to distinguish between assets and liabilities and decide who can access your life.
Take charge of your life and make decisions that allow it to run smoothly, safeguarding your peace.
